General Questions

I invite you to take a moment and review these frequently asked questions.  If you have a question that is not answered here please use the contact form to send me your questions.

How long do repairs normally take?

This depends on three things. First, how many customers are in front of you. Second, the length of time it takes to make the repairs. For example a complete restoration of a wooden stock firearm could take four weeks as there is a curing time between each lay of oil or stock finish. Finally, the availability of parts (if needed). I use several different parts wholesalers and I can often get parts within 5-7 days. The average time for firearms repairs is two weeks. Just a note here, please do not try to give me a firearm two days before the opening day of hunting season and expect to get it back that quickly.

How do I secure my firearm?

I have a rifle and pistol security cabinet. My shop is alarmed and is monitored by multiple cameras 24/7. There are additional security systems in place as well.

How do I get my firearm to you?

All you have to do is call me and we can make those arrangements. Although I have normal hours, I know that most people work and commute so I will make arrangements with you outside of normal business hours if necessary.

Are you military, law enforcement and first responder friendly?

Yes, I spent all of my adult life in the military and in law enforcement. I was also an EMT. I give a 10% discount on labor cost for all military, law enforcement, and first responders.

I inherited a gun that my grandfather brought back from the war. I don’t know anything about it. Can you research the guns history and see if it is safe to shoot?

Yes, I can inspect the firearm for safety and I can research the firearm and in most cases tell you about it manufacturing date, and location.

Can you laser engrave?

Yes, I can laser engrave multiple inorganic items. I can engrave metal tumblers and firearms. One of the newest theft deterrence and retrieval identification processes is to laser engrave your firearm so that law enforcement can rapidly return it to you. Often this engraving is done in a non-visible location so it does not detract from the original appearance of your firearm. I can also engrave designs on firearms.

Do you do rifle bedding?

Yes, There are few upgrades to a weapon that will increase accuracy more than rifle bedding a wooden stock. This process does not change the external appearance of the firearm, but increases it accuracy, in most cases, substantially.

Can I bring you parts that I have purchased and have you put them on my firearm?

Yes, but I have some limitations with that. For example if you bring me a rifle and scope that’s fine, but please don’t bring me rings and bases. They often will not fit properly and frequently are made of dissimilar metals, so I will not use them. Quality is important and I treat your firearm like I would treat my firearms. Please contact me before you purchase parts. I can often get you same part for less money and I will help you make the proper decision for your weapon.

What type of guns do you work on?

I work on almost all make and models of firearms, but I specialize in military and major brands of sporting rifles, pistols and shotguns. If you have a firearm that is so unique that I can’t work on it or don’t feel comfortable working on it I will let you know before I start work.
